145 Corporate CEOs Urge Senate to Pass Gun Control, Do You Do Business With These Companies?
Washington, DC — The New York Times reported that 145 Corporate CEO’s are sending Senate leaders a letter urging them to pass expanded gun control laws. The letter, which were already delivered, were signed by companies including Levi Straus, Twitter, Airbnb, Pinterest, Lyft, Gap, DoorDash, Royal Caribbean and more. Two financial companies are also on the list: Thrive capital and Bain Capital.Interestingly, Bain Capital was co-founded by Republican Mitt Romney of Utah.Many of the companies listed are names that the average American wouldn’t recognize because they don’t interact with that company on a regular basis.But of course, adding their names made the list of names seem even longer.
The letter pushed for expanding background checks to apply to all gun purchases—a Universal Background Check.
The claim is that our current background checks have stopped over 3 million ineligible buyers from purchasing guns, but it “doesn’t reflect how people purchase guns today.”
They want every transaction tracked by the government, even if it’s just a Grandfather giving a gun to his grandson, or a buddy giving his favorite shotgun to his friend. They want to track every sale even used guns and this where many feel blurs the lines and makes things unethical to many and turns into Big Brother and an invasion of our personal liberties. The letter also pushed for passing the very controversial “Red Flag Confiscation” laws.They laud the good that could come from Red Flags, without ever addressing what happens to Due Process or to half of the Bill of Rights.They also don’t deal with what happens when people are Red Flagged for frivolous personal reasons. Finally, they don’t acknowledge that there are already mental health laws on the books in every state.These laws allow the police to detain and even commit somebody whose mental health makes them a threat to themselves or those around them.But no, we’ll just take mentally unstable people’s guns away and then they’ll be totally harmless!
The Fake Victory:
Several of the CEO’s interviewed crowed about the ‘changing culture’ and how many Americans now support gun control efforts like Red Flag laws. If they support Red Flag Laws they should come out Publicly and say they support it and not hide
The New York Times went on to claim that notably missing names like Facebook, Apple, Google and others were not on the list in part because they were worried that gun owners would accost their employees.
What a joke.
These corporations think that because they have lots of money, they somehow should have lots of influence over our laws and lawmakers.
Not only that, but the crush of regular American citizens at gun stores after every shooting decry their leftist polls indicating American’s don’t want guns anymore.
