Alabama Promoter Announces Retirement After 21 years In The Business.

Alabama Promoter Retires after 21 years In The Business.

Valley Productions, affectionately known to Alabamians as VPI Gun and Knife Shows have served the firearm community in Lauderdale, Colbert, Limestone, Jackson, Morgan, Madison, Cullman, DeKalb, Talladega, Calhoun, and Chilton Counties will officially cease operations and close their doors on December 31, 2019. VPI held their first show on May 23-24, 1998 and has held show regularly North Alabama ever since hosting shows in the areas mentioned above several times each year.

An email came in November 14th from Brent Oliver stating: “It is with great sadness that I announce that after 21 years of producing gun shows, I will cease operations and close the doors on December 31, 2019. Making a move to close is something that I have thought and prayed about for the past two years. I know this announcement may come as a surprise to many of you. Still, like many industries, the nature of the gun show business is evolving and changing.” Oliver continues to write: However, you can rest assured that I am not going anywhere. As I take this much-needed break, I will focus on research, marketing, and restructuring. I am collaborating with a Top 10 Marketing Firm that has agreed to partner with DBO Consulting Services, LLC. We will study and implement 21 years of statistics and other information in hopes of improving outcomes. Our mission is to release a "strategic platform for event promoters" that will ultimately make foundations stronger in three areas. Increase company revenue, vendor participation, and increased attendance.

Importantly, during my tenure in producing shows and partnerships, I've grown passionate within a particular group, the Cahaba Shrine Motor Corps Unit (CSMC). Since 2002, VPI Gun and Knife Shows donated half of the proceeds, of each Huntsville show, to CSMC. To date, we have donated over $175,000. Additionally, we have supported other organizations, such as Dream Catchers, Florence Police SWAT Team, Decatur Shrine Club, and countless individuals throughout the years.

Our last gun and knife show will be the Huntsville Gun Show December 14-15, 2019, for the Cahaba Shrine Motor Corps Unit (1226 Blake Bottom Road NW, Huntsville AL).

From the VPI Gun Show family, past and present, we wish you the very best, and I will always be a phone call away. It's been a pleasure producing shows and meeting new people that I would have never met if it wasn't for the encouragement from so many back in 1998.

Thank you one and all for your support in this company, our friendship, and for giving me a chance over the years to serve and promote gun shows. I will leave you with this, don't ever be scared of something you can't control, and always remember to "Keep Your Powder Dry" and "Watch Your Six."

Kind regards,

D. Brent Oliver

EveryDay Preppers USA wished Brent Oliver Congratulation in his 21 years as an Alabama Promoter in an industry that has major challenges with amazing highs and just as many lows. May your retirement be restful and we hope to see you soon. EDP Staff
