Alabama Trade Show Forced To Stay Close Due To Ivey's New Plan

Shawn Bean, Promoter for Great Southern Gun & Knife was forced to cancel his show scheduled for May 16th & 17th due to Alabama Governor Iveys new Safer At Home Plan which is a modified version of the already in place Stay At Home Order that cancelled May 30. While the Safer At Home Plan is a little more lieant, it still does not allow Trade Show type gatherings. Under the Alabama Governors new plan it is scheduled to expire May 15th so this really doesn't give Bean a chance at proper advertising for his show. While Bean is anxious to get his Alabama show back up and going, it was the Birmingham BJCC who called him during the last week of April to say they cannot get their staff back from furlough in time to properly prepare the building. While no other event has been held and you would think the building would be clean before any furloughs, the take-away is that Bean really doesn't have enough time to advertise for the show not knowing if Ivey is going to continue her order o the 15th or make another modification too the order and still not allow Trade Type Shows.
Trade Show Vendors are hopefully Lt. Governor Ainsworth will get his two cents in to the Alabama Governor since he himself owns Tennessee Valley Hunting & Fishing Expo that is scheduled for July 2020 in Huntsville, Alabama and if Restrictions / Sanctions are not released he would lose thousands of dollars from lost revenue and income from his own show. You would think he is pushing the Governor to release some more restrictions before his show. In the meantime, 100's of vendors throughout Alabama are sitting at home with thousands of dollars in inventory with no outlet to sell their goods all while waiting on Alabama Governor to allow Trade Shows to return to Alabama. Beans sister Sondra, owner of Classic Arms runs shows in South Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas and she also just announced this week that she was forced to also cancel her Lafayette, Louisiana show due to similar issues in the State of Louisiana. Louisiana appears by all accounts to be months away from opening their state due to so many people affected of the Covid-19 / Coronavirus in Louisiana. Cliff Sullivan, promoter for Alexandria and Carencro shows also announced he had to cancel his Carencro show scheduled for May 2rd too. Both He and Sondra are praying there June shows will be allowed but many throughout the industry and not hopeful! Stay tunes and I am sure there will be more shows to cancel due to Governors refusing to allow less sanctions on their state before it is over. Another show has already expressed to EveryDay Preppers USA that if the trend continues, he may be forced to cancel his show for the second time in two months in Alabama.
